Almost There

03 Mar

Last night at ARH I presented both a new pet policy proposal and some changes to our constitution. It marked the end of about a month’s worth of work for myself and a committee of around 10 others. To be honest, it’s been taking up a huge amount of time. The fact that I’ve finally presented it means I’m on my way to being done. Not just with these two issues, but with classes, organizations, and all of the activities I’ve gotten myself into throughout my time at K-State. Of course there’s still a full ARH meeting of debate coming in two weeks, but steps are being taken to make sure it goes smoothly. I was pretty surprised at how well things went last night.

I’m hoping from here I can start to “phase myself out” so to speak. After March 16, I will no longer be on ARH Exec Board and will be transitioning a new VP and Technology Coordinator (assuming constitution revisions pass). I’ll be hanging around at the request of the advisors to ensure that some things like scrapbooks and Hall of the Year are wrapped up nicely. Otherwise, things will start to slow down. We’ll have elections soon in NRHH and there will be a new OTM Committee Chair. I have a few things left for Ambassadors and then I’ll probably just stop signing up. I haven’t really been to MIS Club many times this semester, but now that I have a job, it doesn’t seem so important. Basically, I’m more ready than ever to graduate and get out of here.

On a totally unrelated note, I was browsing Lydick’s site last night and he’d linked to something called PostSecret. It’s a site run by a guy who encourages people to send him postcards with their secrets on them (anonymously of course). I think it says a lot about the human psyche, and there’s something strangely calming about reading other people’s secrets. Maybe I’ll send something in…

Compatibility?

Ok so I am sitting at work and finally get my laptop where I want it again. For some reason you can’t upgrade from XP home to XP Pro without uninstalling SP2… but my new laptop has SP2 built in (aka can’t remove it)… Because of this the installation disk seems to think that the XP home on my computer is newer than XP Pro on the disk… End up having to call Dell and getting the install disks for the drivers and media software they put on at the plant then do a format and reinstall. (with all the software I have put on my lappy it took me about 10 hours of installation to get it back where it was… maybe longer…) Ok now back to the present and something interesting. At work here we are all Mac (so Lappy rules them all!!) but I start to wonder if one of those handicapped one button mouses will work on my MegaSuperior PC. so I plug it in and nothing happens… no movement nothing… Then when I almost gave up Lappy tells me that there is new homework edit I mean hardware /edit found.. “Human Interface Device Found” and after about 30 seconds of thinking Lappy figures out that I dared to connect it to a mac piece of hardware and it works (minus the missing button). So now I have a Human Interface Device. I’m Guessing that this is Billy’s way to be politically correct with Mac… To me it says… “An Item That Is Supposed To Help You With Your Computer Has Dared To Touch Me But Because I Am So AWESOME I Will Let You Get Away With It” I guess he didn’t want that big message on the screen.?..?

In other news my coworker is looking at rodent/dogs. Something about some half weenie half chihuahua half red fire ant. that only gets to be at most 2 lbs. But then again it cant chew on shoes because its mouth isnt big enough.. and the fear of getting stepped on and squished like a packing bubble… oh and this is “for her boyfriend” even though he wants an actual dog (even though its a intelectually inferior lab….. Border Collies RULE).

The teh is fat
